Geographie<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Burma, Birma oder Myanmar \u2013 dies ist ein Land in S\u00fcdostasien und grenzt an Indien, Bangladesch, China, Laos und Thailand. Es ist etwa zweimal so gro\u00df wie Deutschland und hat etwa 54 Millionen Einwohnern verteilt auf 135 Ethnien. Die Mehrheit der Bewohner sind Buddhisten. Etwa 4% bekennen sich zum Christentum, dar\u00fcber hinaus .<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Hohe Berge in den Ausl\u00e4ufern des Himalaya, dichte W\u00e4lder mit seltenen und wenig bekannten Pflanzen- und Tierarten, Rubinminen, unendlich weite Reisfelder, fischreiche Gew\u00e4sser: Myanmar ist ein Land von gro\u00dfer Sch\u00f6nheit und beachtlicher Vielfalt.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Geschichte<\/strong><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Von den ersten bekannten Menschen in Burma, den Negritos, ist wie fast \u00fcberall in S\u00fcdostasien wenig erhalten geblieben. Sie wurden verdr\u00e4ngt und assimiliert von Einwanderungswellen aus dem Norden und Osten. In den ersten Jahrhunderten u.Z. entstanden in Zentral- und S\u00fcdburma Stadtstaaten der Pyu, der Mon und der Arakanesen. Um 800 bildete sich in Zentralburma ein neues Machtzentrum: Pagan. Hier begr\u00fcndete starke K\u00f6nige wie Anawarahta und Kyanzittha ein Reich, das durch Reisanbau, Handel und Kriegsz\u00fcge erstarkte und bedeutende kulturelle Leistungen hervorbrachte. Pagan wird, obwohl multiethnisch beeinflu\u00dft, heute als Keimzelle des \u201eburmesischen Staates\u201c angesehen.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Im Laufe seiner Geschichte entging Myanmar nicht dem Schicksal der L\u00e4nder in diesem Teil der Welt. Mehrmals wurde sie besetzt: von den Mongolen, die in alten Zeiten, von den Briten im neunzehnten Jahrhundert, die sie schlicht und einfach in ihr Reich von Indien annektierten und w\u00e4hrend des Zweiten Weltkriegs von dem japanischen Reich.
